COP YOUTH CONGRESS CONDEMNS MR. MANNING’S ABUSE OF GOD’S NAME AND THE BIBLE IN HIS OWN PERSONAL DISPUTE; PNM’S DEFENSE OF CALDER HART AND UDECOTT CARTEL IS AN ATTEMPT TO PRE-EMPT THE FINDINGS OF THE UFF COMMISSION

The youth arm of the Congress of the People wishes to express deep regret, outrage and disgust at the Prime Minister’s abuse of religion and the Bible in parliament yesterday.
As the future of the nation, we the young people were taken aback and highly alarmed at the Prime Minister’s convenient use of the Bible and of the name of God. Our nation and society is one that is built on the supremacy of God and Mr. Manning’s obscene abuse of God’s name and of the Bible offends the very core and congregation of our country. The COP Youth Congress believes that God, in whatever form He is worshipped, must not be mentioned conveniently, and that Mr. Manning’s quick resort to the Bible and reference to God was not out of sincerity, but to give himself validation and undeserved moral standing in the debate.

According to COP Youth Congress Chairman, Kieron Samaroo, “The COP Youth Congress firmly believes that God reigns supreme, and that no religion should ever be politicized; we condemn Mr. Manning’s obscene, extremely inappropriate and distasteful actions. It was a poor example to all people, especially young, impressionable minds. How can you fight lawlessness in the society, when the Prime Minister himself has no regard for the ultimate authority of God himself? We call on the Prime Minister to exhibit the spiritual fruit of humility, and now apologize to the nation!”

Yesterday, we saw Mr. Manning, Mr. Imbert and Mr. Abdul-Hamid all rise hastily in defense of a PNM member under investigation; namely Mr. Calder Hart. This proves that the PNM has resolved to ignore the mechanisms of the Uff Enquiry and that Mr. Manning wants to be the administrator of his own justice. The Prime Minister and his stooges have now used parliament as their own court and will pronounce who they want as innocent and as guilty.

Sadly, it seems that the PNM have pre-emptively concluded that Calder Hart is innocent of wrongdoing. This premature position was clearly illustrated by the PNM’s inflamed defenses of Mr. Hart in yesterday’s parliamentary sitting. Mr. Manning and the PNM must desist from protecting Mr. Hart and the UDeCott Cartel. Calder Hart and UDeCott must face the justice and fairness of the Uff Commission.
