NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE
CONGRESS OF THE PEOPLE
VIGOROUSLY CONDEMNS THOSE WHO ATTACK THE COP
WHILE PRETENDING TO SPEAK FOR THE PARTY
The Youth Congress of the COP today reported to the National Council of the party that its Vice Chairman recently joined in public attacks against the Congress of the People and its leadership. The Youth Congress also informed the National Council that it had condemned its Vice Chairman’s actions of deliberately misrepresenting the views of the youth of the COP on non-COP platforms.
The National Council supported the position of the Youth Congress and went on to vigorously condemned the actions of persons who have been presenting themselves as members of this party on platforms not organized by the COP for the purposes of:
• Presenting lies about the leadership of the COP
• Deliberately misrepresenting the positions and policies of the COP
• Attempting to engineer disunity among the members of the COP
The National Council expressed its disgust at the continuing dishonesty of Dr. Sharon-ann Gopaul-McNicol in representing herself as speaking on behalf of the COP while deliberately misrepresenting the positions and actions of the party.
These actions show that those who act in this way have effectively removed themselves from membership of the Congress of the People.
The Council has received information that this political mischief will continue by having people wearing COP jerseys at meetings of non-COP platforms.
The National Council calls on all members of the Congress of the People to stand firm against all attempts to disrupt the ongoing strengthening of this party.

I would like to advise the political leader to call a press conference and inform the public that this person does not have the authority to speak on behalf of the COP. I do not recall this being done before but even if it has, a reminder is necessary at this juncture. |
