THE CONGRESS OF THE PEOPLE CONGRATULATES KIRT SINNETTE ON A COURAGIOUS, CLASSIC DISPLAY Author: WINSTON DOOKERAN Date: 2009-12-13 00:00:00 THE CONGRESS OF THE PEOPLE CONGRATULATES KIRT SINNETTE ON A COURAGIOUS, CLASSIC DISPLAY The Congress of the People (COP) congratulates and hail Trinidad and Tobago’s newly crowned World Boxing Association’s (WBA) Fede-Latin, Super Middleweight champion, Kirt “the technician” Sinnette. Kirt’s eleventh round technical knockout (TKO) of Bahamian Jermaine Mackey was a classic display of courage-the type of courage and determination that is synonymous with true champions. COP’s spokesperson for education, Dr Lincoln Douglas and I were both in attendance and felt fortunate to have witnessed such a display by “The technician.” Kirt fought a special fight and all of Trinidad and Tobago should be proud of him for defeating the odds to claim his victory. Not only was his opponent younger than him, he also inflicted the only defeat Kirt had suffered in his impressive career back in 2006 and had knocked him out in the second round of that bout. Therefore, Kirt’s victory was special and symbolic on many counts. It spoke volumes for courage, determination, resilience and discipline-it is replete with values that many of our nation’s youths can idolize. The COP wishes Kirt all the best in future and may he triumph in the other opportunities that this victory will certainly open up for him including a shot at the Commonwealth title next year.
