| Wendy Lee Yuen, Acting Political Leader of the COP wishes to express the unreserved welcome of our party to the announcement by the PM that Parliament has been dissolved and that a General Election is now inevitable within a relatively short timeframe.
At long last, we the citizens of this great nation have been given the opportunity to free ourselves from the political tyranny that has characterized the current PNM administration. The PM has finally been broken by the weight of scandals, corruption and mismanagement being exposed by the day.
But while he has chosen to seek shelter from the gathering storm, our citizens have had no choice but to continue to suffer at his hands, yearning for the day when redemption could be of their own making. The time has come and we in the COP vow to continue our advocacy for our citizens, fortified by a confidence in people and their determination to achieve a country set free by good governance and resting on our cherished, shared values.
On the road to the next election, we in the COP stand ready to offer the electorate something it has not had before? A party that is both competent and compassionate? A party based on sound values as expressed in our vision and mission statements? A party that will bring hope, opportunity and a brighter future to this country.
