The People's Partnership candidate for Arouca/Maloney, Anna Maria Mora of the Congress of the People has learnt, with sadness and indignation, of an incident in which the PNM's Candidate for the same constituency and current Member of Parliament, Ms Alicia Hospedales was assaulted by someone while on a walk-about yesterday afternoon.
Ms Mora unreservedly condemns this dastardly act for which there can be no excuse.
Ms Mora extends her hope that the PNM's candidate was not harmed in any way as a result of this outrageous act.
As a candidate for the People's Partnership calls on all constituents to respect the right of everyone to represent and support the political party of their choice and to refuse to descend into any kind of divisive or violent acts which will deny people that right.
Anna Maria Mora calls for the conduct of these elections in the spirit of ensuring that we can all be proud of our democratic tradition as citizens of Trinidad and Tobago on the 25th of May and beyond.
