Deputy Political Leader of the Congress of the People (COP), and incoming Member of Parliament (MP) for St. Augustine, Prakash Ramadhar, is making a call to all Trinidadians and Tobagonians to begin a physical and spiritual clean-up of the nation.
Ramadhar, who in 2009 called for a National Clean-up campaign during the dengue epidemic, says that he will be discussing with his colleagues in the People's Partnership to consider a National Clean-up campaign to prevent flooding and water-borne diseases during this rainy season. He says "that it is time to remove and cleanse our surroundings of unwanted items as we engage in a journey towards a new society."
According to the incoming St. Augustine MP, "we should consider a clean-up of our homes and surroundings, as well as begin the process to cleanse our lives and return our society to one with spiritual values. We must use this opportunity of a new governance to also remove the corruption and mismanagement of the past."
Ramadhar also extends congratulations to the new Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar and thanks the people of St. Augustine for electing him as their Member of Parliament.
